The Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) community was deeply shaken on Monday by the unexpected passing of Adamu Fatima Muhammad, a second-year Biochemistry student within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Fatima, identified by matriculation number U23/FNS/BCH/1093, reportedly collapsed at her off-campus lodging in Lapai. Witnesses recounted that she suddenly fell ill and was immediately transported to the General Hospital in Lapai, where medical personnel pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Those close to Fatima disclosed that she had faced significant hardships, having lost both parents at a young age. She lived with her guardian in Suleja, alongside her only remaining sibling. Her resilience and dedication to her education were well recognized among peers.
Friends and classmates remember Fatima as a modest, diligent, and committed individual whose promising academic journey was tragically cut short. “She was an exceptional student with a bright future ahead,” a fellow student remarked, expressing the collective sorrow felt across the university.
Following Islamic funeral traditions, Fatima was laid to rest in Lapai on the same day, surrounded by family and community members mourning her loss.
