Mr Real, whose real name is Okafor Uchenna Victor, has publicly accused Afrobeats icon D’banj of taking advantage of him during their professional relationship.
In a recent conversation, Mr Real revealed that despite being under D’banj’s mentorship for two years, his financial reward amounted to a mere $500.
He explained that although he was appointed as a brand ambassador for D’banj’s CREAM label, he never received substantial compensation or benefits, despite numerous assurances from the Koko Master. Additionally, Mr Real claimed that a vehicle intended for him was instead kept by D’banj, who was aware that Mr Real did not own a car at the time.
“D’banj exploited me. This isn’t a rumor; it’s the truth. Spending two years with someone and only earning $500 is sheer greed and selfishness,” Mr Real expressed during the interview.
This isn’t the first instance where the Legbegbe singer has voiced grievances against D’banj. In 2023, he accused the veteran artist of reneging on financial commitments and withholding his rightful earnings from their 2018 hit, Issa Banger.
“After working for D’banj for two years, the only thing I got from him was $500. He r!pped me.”
