Truck Transit Parks (TTP), the innovators behind the Electronic Call-up System (ETO), have disclosed that inefficiencies within Nigeria’s maritime transport logistics have resulted in losses exceeding N2.5 trillion.
The company emphasized that enhancing transport infrastructure and embracing advanced technology are vital steps toward maximizing the trade capabilities of Nigeria’s ports, road networks, and the broader regional trade corridors.
Addressing attendees at the 2025 Transportation Correspondents Association annual conference, TTP’s Managing Director, Mr. Jama Onwubuariri, highlighted the critical importance of fostering strong partnerships among government agencies, private enterprises, and regional organizations to drive progress in the logistics sector.
Onwubuariri further noted that the integration of digital solutions, such as TTP’s Ètò App, has significantly transformed traffic flow management at Lagos ports.
He illustrated the severity of past congestion, describing how traffic jams once extended from Cele Expressway all the way to Maryland in Ikeja, with trucks lined up for hours trying to access Apapa and Tin-Can Island Ports.
“The operational costs skyrocketed due to systemic inefficiencies and widespread extortion, as transporters were hampered by the slow evacuation rate-only about 50 trucks were processed daily by a single terminal operator,” he explained.
