Victor Osimhen Sets New Record As First Nigerian To Hit 10 Champions League Goals

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has etched his name in football history, becoming the first Nigerian to score 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League.
The Galatasaray forward reached the milestone on Tuesday, September 30, after netting the decisive goal in his side’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool at RAMS Park.
Osimhen coolly slotted home a penalty in the second half, sending goalkeeper Alisson Becker the wrong way after Liverpool’s Dominic Szoboszlai fouled Barış Alper Yılmaz inside the box.
The goal not only secured a famous win for the Turkish giants but also pushed Osimhen past Obafemi Martins’ long-standing record to become Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League proper, excluding qualification rounds.
In addition, the 26-year-old joined another elite bracket—becoming the first Nigerian player to score for three different clubs in the competition, having previously found the net with Lille and Napoli.
Osimhen’s landmark strike has been widely celebrated by fans and football analysts, marking another chapter in the striker’s meteoric rise on the European stage.
