The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially relieved all Commissioners and other public officials of their duties.
This announcement was made public on Wednesday through a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
The Governor declared that the cabinet’s dissolution takes immediate effect.
The statement further revealed that Governor Fubara convened a private farewell meeting with his cabinet members at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
This farewell gathering was also part of the events commemorating Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day.
During the meeting, Governor Fubara acknowledged and commended the commissioners for their unwavering commitment and valuable contributions toward the advancement and prosperity of Rivers State over the last two years.
Emphasizing the importance of Nigeria’s Independence, the Governor urged all citizens to unite with President Bola Tinubu in fostering a nation characterized by peace, security, and economic growth.
He reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people of Rivers State with renewed energy and thanked the populace for their ongoing support, extending warm wishes for a memorable 65th Independence Anniversary to all Nigerians.
Prior to this, it was reported that Governor Fubara had called off the Independence Day parade initially planned for Wednesday, October 1, as part of the Independence celebrations.
Friday Dede, the Permanent Secretary of the Special Services Bureau under the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, explained in a statement that this cancellation aligns with directives from the Federal Government.
Dede also conveyed the government’s apologies for any inconvenience the cancellation might cause the public.
