Signature Bank Limited has strengthened its executive team by appointing Steve Obiago as the new Chief Information Officer (CIO).
In this capacity, Obiago will lead the bank’s technological vision, championing digital innovation efforts designed to modernize processes, enhance customer engagement, and leverage data analytics alongside artificial intelligence (AI) to unlock fresh business prospects.
The announcement, made official through a statement by Oshilaja Adewunmi, Head of Corporate Communications, underscores Signature Bank’s dedication to innovation as a cornerstone of its growth strategy and its mission to provide customers with seamless, tech-driven banking experiences.
Nixon Iwedi, Managing Director and CEO of Signature Bank, welcomed Obiago to the leadership team, emphasizing his extensive background in IT and digital transformation as a critical asset for the bank’s future.
“Steve Obiago brings a wealth of expertise in technology and digital innovation that will be instrumental in advancing Signature Bank’s evolution. His leadership will be key as we enhance our digital infrastructure and deliver impactful financial services,” Iwedi remarked.

Obiago arrives at Signature Bank with over 20 years of diverse experience across sectors including financial services, oil and gas, and manufacturing. His previous roles include senior leadership positions at MTN Nigeria, Access Bank, Chicason Group, Diamond Bank, and United Bank for Africa.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and Robotics from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, a Master’s degree in Criminology with a focus on Cyber-Forensics from the University of Lagos, and a Postgraduate Certificate in IT Business Management from Belmont University in the United States. Additionally, he is a Chartered Banker and an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School of Governance.
