Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Wednesday abducted two councillors and an Islamic cleric in Tsauni community of Gusau, Zamfara State.
The spokesman for the state police command , Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident to journalists on Thursday in Gusau.
The councillors are representing Gidan Gona and Tsibiri wards in Maradun local government areas of Zamfara.
The spokesman said the victims were abducted in front of their houses in the Tsauni area at about 7:00 p. m., shortly after prayers.

Tsauni community is located behind the Zamfara State Sector Command headquarters of the Federal Road Safety, Corps (FRSC) in Gusau.
The community had hosted internally Displaced persons affected by armed banditry from different communities.
Abubakar, however, said the command had deployed its men to the area, and efforts to rescue the three men are ongoing.
He urged the residents to assist the police with relevant information in good time to curtail such incidents.
