Gunmen abduct police officer in Kwara

On Thursday, a police officer named Ezra John was kidnapped by armed assailants in the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Officer John serves at the Lade Division within the Kwara State Police Command.

Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the spokesperson for the police command, verified the abduction in a statement released on Friday from Ilorin.

According to her, the officer was returning from official duties at Patigi General Hospital when he was seized by the criminals.

His motorcycle was later discovered abandoned along the roadside.

Ejire-Adeyemi stated, “We have deployed tactical units to locate and rescue him. Every possible effort is being made to ensure his safe return and to apprehend those responsible.”

She also urged local residents to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activities or unfamiliar persons to the authorities.

This incident has intensified worries about the escalating insecurity in Patigi and neighboring areas, prompting community leaders to demand enhanced security measures to safeguard lives and property.
