Agents from the Kaduna Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended Abdulazeez Gbadebo, the station manager at Emadeb Energy Service Limited, on allegations of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of funds amounting to N500 million.

As detailed in a statement released on EFCC’s official Facebook page on Thursday, the arrest was prompted by a complaint from Emadeb Energy Service Ltd. The company’s external audit uncovered that Gbadebo illicitly diverted and sold large quantities of petrol by tampering with pump meters, funneling N500 million from these fraudulent transactions into his personal bank accounts.

Further inquiries by the EFCC confirmed that the suspect conducted bulk sales of petrol and diesel to various buyers, receiving payments directly into his private financial accounts.

During the operation, several assets were seized from Gbadebo, including a grey Mercedes Benz, a grey Mini Cooper, a green Mini Cooper, another grey Mini Cooper, and a white Mercedes Benz GLK. Additionally, authorities recovered an original authorization letter from the Kaduna Geographical Information System (KADGIS), a certificate of occupancy bearing file number KDL 328159, a fully detached three-bedroom bungalow, and three other parcels of land.

The EFCC stated that Gbadebo will face prosecution once the investigation is finalized.
