16 Soldiers Arrested and Charged in Major Breach of Service Regulations

16 Soldiers Arrested, Face Trial For Alleged Breach Of Service Regulations

At least 16 members of the military have been detained on charges related to misconduct and violations of service regulations.

Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Acting Director of Defence Information, explained in an official release that these arrests are part of standard military procedures aimed at upholding discipline and order within the ranks.

Investigations uncovered that the detained personnel’s discontent largely arose from frustrations over stalled career progressions, primarily due to repeated failures in promotion exams, among other concerns.

“Several of those apprehended were already under military jurisdiction for various infractions, either awaiting trial or currently undergoing legal proceedings. Their behavior was found to be inconsistent with the expected military code of conduct,” Gusau stated.

He further noted, “Once the investigations conclude, those found culpable will be subjected to the full spectrum of military disciplinary actions as prescribed by established protocols, ensuring accountability and reinforcing professionalism within the Armed Forces.”

Gusau emphasized that these measures are purely disciplinary, reflecting ongoing efforts to sustain loyalty, discipline, and order among service members.

“The Armed Forces remain steadfast in rejecting any conduct that compromises the institution’s integrity or jeopardizes its constitutional mandate under democratic governance,” he affirmed.

Reiterating the military’s dedication, the acting director assured that the institution will continue to honor its constitutional duties with unwavering professionalism.
