Jigawa Offers Scholarship To 200 Qur’anic Reciters

Malam Umar Namadi, the Governor of Jigawa State, has declared that more than 200 participants of the 40th state Qur’anic recitation contest will receive automatic scholarships.

This announcement was made during the event’s closing ceremony and awards presentation held at Ahmadu Bello Hall in Dutse, the capital city of Jigawa State.

The governor emphasized that the scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to pursue studies in any field they desire, ranging from Qur’anic Studies and Hadith to disciplines such as Arts, Engineering, Medicine, and Social Sciences.

In addition, Governor Namadi revealed intentions to establish a specific budget allocation dedicated to Qur’anic education. This initiative aims to reform the traditional Almajiri system, deepen spiritual understanding, and ensure the accurate transmission of Qur’anic teachings.

He highlighted that individuals grounded in strong spiritual education tend to exhibit exemplary moral values and integrity within their communities.

The governor also pointed out that the newly formed Tsangaya Board will play a pivotal role in executing this policy. The board’s mission includes integrating Qur’anic education into the state’s formal education framework by developing a structured curriculum and implementing effective teaching strategies.

Governor Namadi extended his congratulations to all winners and participants of the competition. Meanwhile, Dr. Mubarak Abdulwahab Hassan, the executive secretary of the State Islamic Education Bureau, praised the government’s commitment and support for the program.

The top honors in the recitation and Tafsir categories were awarded to Abduljabbar Idris Gwaram and Lauratu Isa Gumel, respectively.
