Nvidia, Fujitsu join forces to develop smarter robots, advanced AI systems

Japanese tech giant Fujitsu and the American chipmaker Nvidia have established a strategic partnership to create cutting-edge AI-powered robots and related technologies, which is expected to speed up the global race in artificial intelligence.

Fujitsu’s longstanding prowess in computing systems, robotics, and social infrastructure is combined with Nvidia’s industry-leading knowledge of AI processors and software platforms in this alliance.

“The AI industrial revolution has already begun. Building the infrastructure to power it is essential in Japan and around the world,” Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang said, hugging his Fujitsu counterpart Takahito Tokita on stage.

Tokita stated that the firms were adopting a “humancentric” strategy to maintain Japan’s competitiveness while they collaborate on AI, accelerating production using robotics and digital twins to address Japan’s aging workforce problem.

“Through our collaboration with Nvidia, we aim to create new, unprecedented technologies and contribute to solving even more serious social issues,” he said.

The companies will collaborate to create what they have dubbed “an AI infrastructure,” or the framework that will support the different applications of AI in the future, such as manufacturing, healthcare, the environment, next-generation computing, and customer service.
