Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, recently opened up about her marriage to Afrobeats star Mr Eazi, describing him as her closest companion and the person she eagerly looks forward to sharing her life with.
She also discussed her decision to adopt his last name and the reasons behind keeping their wedding celebrations intimate and private.
In an exclusive interview with the BBC, Temi expressed, “He’s not just my partner; he’s my best friend. When you find your person, you just know. I can’t picture spending my life with anyone else. He’s the one I’m thrilled to wake up to every day, to build a future with, to navigate challenges alongside, to celebrate milestones, and to solve problems hand in hand. Simply put, he’s my person.”
Temi, who recently updated her social media profile to include her husband’s surname, Ajibade, shared that this was a heartfelt choice rather than a predetermined plan.
“Honestly, I hadn’t given it much thought before. Now that I’m married, taking my husband’s name felt like the natural step for me. But it’s a personal decision, and I deeply respect everyone’s individual choices. This is what feels right and comfortable for me, but I honor every woman’s freedom to decide for herself,” she explained.
Regarding her preference to keep their engagement and wedding details under wraps, Temi emphasized the importance of controlling her own story.
“For me, it’s about owning your narrative. There’s a unique power in moving quietly-it gives you control over how your story unfolds. You get to share your journey on your own terms, when and how you feel ready,” she said.
Their nuptials were celebrated through an extravagant three-part event across Monaco, Dubai, and Iceland. The couple first tied the knot in a civil ceremony at the Mairie de Monaco in Monte Carlo in May. This was followed by a traditional Yoruba wedding at the Otedola family residence in Dubai in July, culminating in a white wedding ceremony at Hallgrimskirkja Church in Iceland in August.
