Tinubu Champions Unity: A Call for Religious Tolerance in Nigeria

Tinubu preaches religious tolerance in Nigeria

On Saturday, President Bola Tinubu called on Nigerians to consistently uphold peace in their daily lives.

The President delivered this message during the funeral service of Nana Lydia Yilwatda, the mother of Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held in Jos, Plateau State.

He emphasized the importance of religious harmony and encouraged religious leaders present to take an active role in promoting peace as a foundation for national cohesion.

Tinubu remarked, “Choosing hatred is never the way forward. I was raised in the Islamic faith and continue to practice it, while my wife is a Christian pastor. She offers prayers for me, and our differing faiths have never caused discord. I have never sought to change her beliefs.”

“Let this occasion serve as a reminder to strengthen the unity we all need. I appreciate the clergy for their efforts in fostering peace. Hatred should never be our path. We must embrace love for one another. No one can dictate what God has willed. We all worship the same God and are accountable to Him.”

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, in his address, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for honoring the burial ceremony of the APC chairman’s mother with his presence in the state.
