Actress Laide Bakare Fires Back After Backlash Over Viral ‘Alcohol’ Comment

Actress Laide Bakare responds after backlash over viral ‘alcohol’ comment

Nollywood star Laide Bakare has addressed the controversy sparked by a viral clip where she seemed to admit to introducing her teenage daughter to alcohol.

Following the uproar, Laide has publicly apologized after revealing that she was the one who first took her daughter, Similoluwa, to clubs and allowed her to try alcohol at the age of seventeen.

In a recent interview, the actress openly shared that she personally accompanied her daughter to her initial club experience and offered her first alcoholic drink.

“Actually, I was the one who took her to a club for the very first time. I cherish the fact that her earliest memories of clubbing and having an alcoholic drink involve me,” Laide stated.

However, in a video she posted online on Saturday evening, Laide expressed remorse over her earlier statement after receiving widespread criticism. She clarified that her words were a slip of the tongue and insisted she never introduced her daughter to alcohol.

“I wasn’t aware I said that until someone sent me the video. It was an unintentional mistake. That never actually happened. I have never introduced her to alcohol, and I would never do such a thing. Similoluwa was upset too because she doesn’t want to be portrayed as a teenager misusing alcohol,” she explained.

“I want to use this opportunity to apologize to Simi and to any parents who felt I was wrong in my actions,” Laide added.

“Please accept my sincere apologies for this error,” the actress concluded in the video shared on her Instagram account.
