Hope Is All We Have’: MSF Halts Gaza City Operations Amid Intense Israeli Offensive

On Saturday, October 4, FRANCE 24‘s Jean-Emile Jammine interviewed Hunter McGovern, the project coordinator for Doctors Without Borders (MSF), to discuss the dire humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza. McGovern, who was directly managing MSF’s medical efforts in Gaza City, explained that the organization had to halt its operations due to the intensifying Israeli military campaign. “Our presence is meaningless if we are not alive,” he stated, emphasizing that withdrawing from Gaza City was a difficult but necessary decision to allow the team to regroup and continue delivering medical aid in southern Gaza. He also revealed that just two days prior, a drone strike in another part of Gaza injured several MSF staff members and tragically claimed the life of one. “This conflict must end,” McGovern urged, highlighting the urgent need for peace to alleviate the suffering of civilians.
