Dangote Refinery Commends Tinubu, Security Chiefs, Ministers for Averting Oil Workers’ Disruption

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has publicly conveyed its deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his prompt and decisive action in halting what the company described as the “disruptive maneuvers by PENGASSAN” targeting the refinery.

In an official release, the refinery highlighted that the President’s leadership, executed through his ministers and senior government officials, was instrumental in reinstating stability and order within the energy sector during a pivotal period.

“We sincerely appreciate the intervention of His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, whose involvement, alongside his Ministers and top government officials, successfully curtailed the disruptive activities initiated by PENGASSAN against the refinery,” the statement affirmed.

The company acknowledged the relentless efforts of key government figures who played vital roles in restoring calm. These included Nigeria’s top security personnel, led by National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Toyin Ajayi; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr. Mohammed Mohammed.

Additionally, the refinery praised other senior officials who worked tirelessly, often late into the night, to prevent the planned disruption of Nigeria’s energy infrastructure by what it termed “agents of chaos.” Among these were the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Dingyadi; the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; the Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu; and the Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

“We remain profoundly thankful to these dedicated public servants for their patriotism and unwavering commitment to national service,” the statement added.

Dangote Refinery also extended sincere appreciation to Nigerians nationwide for their overwhelming support throughout the crisis.

“To Nigerians from every background, we owe an immense debt of gratitude. Your solidarity with our just cause was both inspiring and heartening. We heard your encouraging voices echoing across streets and media platforms throughout the country, which fortified our resolve and renewed our faith in the Nigerian people as the foundation of our enterprise. Rest assured, we will continue to champion your interests and steadfastly guard them against opportunists, economic disruptors, and those who seek to undermine our progress,” the company declared.

The refinery further commended its employees for their steadfastness and dedication during the industrial unrest.

“To our devoted workforce, who ensured uninterrupted operations despite provocations and divisive rhetoric from detractors wishing ill upon Nigeria and our mission, we express our deepest thanks. The strength of the Dangote Group lies in the unwavering loyalty and commitment of our people to our vision and goals. Your resilience during these challenging days has not gone unnoticed, and you will continue to receive deserved recognition and rewards, regardless of the misleading directives from those opposed to Nigeria’s advancement,” the statement emphasized.

Reaffirming its status as a leading employer in Nigeria, the refinery underscored the Dangote Group’s role as a benchmark private sector entity dedicated to equitable employment practices and the nation’s economic progress.

“It is worth noting that the Dangote Group is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s exemplary employers and stands as the country’s largest private sector employer and top contributor to tax revenues. Our remuneration system aligns with global standards, designed not only to incentivize performance but also to safeguard employee welfare, uphold labor dignity, and provide a secure and supportive work environment. Through ongoing training, mentorship, and career development programs, we offer clear advancement opportunities, empowering our staff to assume leadership roles and build rewarding, long-term careers,” the company stated.

Dangote Refinery also lauded the Nigerian judiciary for its steadfast commitment to justice and the rule of law amid provocations.

“The judiciary remains an institution we deeply respect and must commend loudly. They upheld truth and justice, serving as a beacon of hope during trying times. Unfortunately, some oligarchs demonstrated blatant disregard for the law by refusing to comply with valid court orders aimed at curbing their destructive conduct. Nevertheless, the judiciary’s intervention at this critical juncture, despite intimidation attempts by these disruptive elements, highlights its role as a fair and impartial arbiter,” the statement noted.

In conclusion, the refinery reiterated its unwavering commitment to national development and industrial progress.

“To all our stakeholders, large and small, we extend our heartfelt thanks and will continue to rely on your support. We remain resolute in our mission to serve Nigeria diligently through the continuous production of petroleum products. Our dedication to the Nigerian people and nation is steadfast and unshakeable, despite distractions from detractors and economic saboteurs,” the company affirmed.
