Police Arrest Man in Shocking Edo Wife Murder Case

Authorities in Edo State have taken into custody a man named TJ, suspected of fatally attacking his wife, Queen, in Auchi, located within the Etsako West Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, September 30, when the suspect allegedly used an axe to commit the crime before fleeing the location. A local resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed that the couple had recently celebrated their two-year-old son’s birthday prior to the tragic event.

“There were no visible signs of conflict between them earlier. Everyone went to bed as usual that night, and by morning, neighbors assumed they were still asleep since no one had emerged from the house. It was their young son who eventually appeared, his clothes stained with blood,” the witness recounted.

“Upon noticing the blood but realizing the child was unharmed, neighbors quickly entered the room and discovered the woman deceased, lying in a pool of blood with her throat severely cut,” the source added.

Following the discovery, the husband was missing from the scene and is believed to have escaped immediately after the attack.

The case was promptly reported to the Auchi Police Division, which initiated a search operation to locate the suspect.

Confirming the arrest on Sunday in Benin, CSP Moses Yamu, the police command’s spokesperson, stated that TJ had been apprehended and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further examination.

“The suspect is now in custody at the State CID, where a thorough investigation is underway,” Yamu confirmed. He further assured that the police are committed to ensuring justice is achieved in this matter.
