Police officers in California have arrested a suspect in connection with violent threats made against TikTok’s headquarters in the United States.
The incident prompted heightened security and brief lockdowns in the area earlier this week.
Authorities said the individual allegedly issued online threats directed at the social media company’s offices, sparking an immediate investigation by local law enforcement and federal agencies.
After being tied to many online threats that caused TikTok to evacuate its headquarters near Los Angeles on Friday, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

According to a Culver City Police Department news statement on Monday, TikTok staff members reported getting many threats from 33-year-old Hawthorne resident Joseph Mayuyo on a variety of social media platforms.
“We take all threats seriously, especially those involving public workplaces,” said a Culver City Police Department spokesperson. “Our investigators acted swiftly in coordination with TikTok’s security team to ensure everyone’s safety.”
Although TikTok has not yet issued an official statement, company is reportedly completely assisting law authorities. The arrest coincides with increased scrutiny of the platform in the United States, where discussions over company practices and data security have heated up.
