American Billionaire Brooklyn Earick Abruptly Withdraws £4.5bn Bid to Take Over Tottenham

American billionaire Brooklyn Earick withdraws £4.5bn Tottenham takeover bid

Brooklyn Earick, a prominent American tech billionaire, has officially retracted his £4.5 billion bid to acquire Tottenham Hotspur after the club’s proprietors, the Lewis family, firmly stated their unwillingness to sell under any conditions.

Earick’s offer was reportedly divided into £3.3 billion for purchasing the club itself, with an extra £1.2 billion allocated for player acquisitions, salaries, and agent commissions.

Despite Tottenham’s ownership group, ENIC and the Lewis family, having previously “categorically dismissed” the initial proposal-as confirmed in an official Stock Exchange announcement-negotiations between Earick and club officials continued into last week.

Ultimately, once it became evident that the owners were resolute in retaining control, Earick withdrew his takeover attempt.

In a formal declaration to the Stock Exchange, Earick stated:
“Following the Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited’s announcement on 26 September 2025, I confirm that I will not be submitting a definitive offer for the company.”

The statement also highlighted that Earick and his investment group maintain the option to purchase shares in the future, leaving open the possibility of partial investment down the line.

On social media, Earick expressed:
“Engaging with Tottenham Hotspur and representatives of the Lewis family over recent months has been an honor. I hold immense admiration for the club, its management, and its fans, and I wish them continued success.”

This development marks the third unsuccessful acquisition attempt for the North London club since the exit of former executive chairman Daniel Levy in September.

Earlier bids from Amanda Staveley’s PCP International Finance and Firehawk Holdings Limited, led by Dr. Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng, were also declined.
