Diddy Urges Judge for Transfer to a Different Prison to Serve His Four-Year Sentence

Diddy begs judge to spend his four-year sentence at another prison

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the renowned hip-hop artist now entangled in legal difficulties, is petitioning the court to serve his four-year and two-month incarceration at a federal prison with a lower security level, rather than the stringent Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York.

The 55-year-old music mogul received his sentence last Friday following a conviction on two counts related to the transportation of individuals for prostitution. Witnesses noted that Combs became emotional, even shedding tears, as the judge delivered the ruling in a New York courtroom.

Since September, Diddy has been held in the Special Housing Unit at MDC. His attorneys are advocating for his transfer to FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, a facility recognized for its more relaxed security measures and rehabilitative atmosphere.

In a letter addressed to Judge Arun Subramanian, defense counsel Teny Geragos wrote: “On behalf of Mr. Combs, we respectfully request that the Court issue a strong recommendation in the Judgment concerning his placement within the Bureau of Prisons.”

Geragos elaborated, “To properly address Mr. Combs’ struggles with substance dependency and to promote increased family interaction alongside access to rehabilitative programs, we urge the Court to support his assignment to FCI Fort Dix. This placement would allow him to engage in the Residential Drug Abuse Treatment Program (RDAP) as well as other educational and vocational training.”

The RDAP, according to reports from the Daily Mail, is a voluntary initiative within the federal prison system designed to assist inmates battling addiction through cognitive-behavioral therapy and comprehensive support services.

Diddy’s legal team contends that participation in this program would be instrumental in his recovery journey and would also help maintain vital family connections during his incarceration.
