Ex-FBI Director James Comey Firmly Denies Charges, Pleads Not Guilty to Lying to Congress

Ex-FBI director James Comey pleads not guilty on lying to Congress charge

This case represents a significant turning point in former President Trump’s persistent efforts to leverage the judicial system as a means of political retaliation against his opponents.

On Wednesday, James Comey, the former FBI director, publicly rejected the federal charges alleging that he gave false testimony to Congress in 2020.

Comey arrived just before 10 a.m. through a private entrance, accompanied by his legal team, as well as his wife and daughter. His daughter, Maurene, was recently relieved of her duties as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York. Also in attendance was Troy Edwards Jr., Comey’s son-in-law, who resigned from his prosecutorial role in the Eastern District of Virginia shortly after Comey’s indictment became public.
