Nigeria’s Progress Hinges on Fair Treatment of Igbos, Warns Orji Kalu

Nigeria Will Not Develop Until Igbos Are Treated Fairly — Orji Kalu

Orji Uzor Kalu, the current Senator for Abia North and former governor of Abia State, has urged for equitable treatment and full inclusion of the Igbo community within Nigeria’s political and economic frameworks. He emphasized that the nation’s progress is hindered by the ongoing exclusion of the South-East region.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ on Wednesday evening, Kalu expressed deep concern over the persistent injustices faced by the Igbo people since the conclusion of the Nigerian civil war in 1970.

“The Igbo have endured unfair treatment since the civil war ended,” he remarked. “I have repeatedly stated this openly – the Igbo have not been accorded fair treatment across Nigeria. It is crucial for Nigerians to reintegrate the Igbo fully and engage with them fairly, following the proper rules, so that everyone can progress and the nation can thrive.”

Kalu highlighted that the ongoing sidelining of the South-East region poses a significant barrier to Nigeria’s overall development and unity.

“If the Igbo continue to be suppressed, national advancement will be severely hampered,” he cautioned. “The Igbo community has immense potential to contribute meaningfully.”
