Boko Haram attacks Borno military post, kills four soldiers

Tragically, an attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on a military checkpoint along the Damaturu-Maiduguri Road in Borno State‘s Kaga Local Government Area resulted in the deaths of at least four soldiers on Friday.

Lieutenant Colonel Uba Sani, spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the incident in a statement from Maiduguri, reporting that five additional troops were wounded during the early morning assault around 2:30 a.m.

He emphasized that the insurgents suffered heavy casualties amid fierce exchanges of gunfire with the military forces.

The official communiqué explained: “Forces engaged in Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist offensive near the Ngamdu area, owing to the swift response of ground troops and reinforcements deployed from the 29 Task Force Brigade.”

“The assailants employed Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and command-detonated Improvised Explosive Devices targeting both personnel and military vehicles.”

“Unfortunately, our forces endured four fatalities and five injuries. Additionally, several Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and Gun Trucks (GTs) sustained varying degrees of damage during the clash.”
