Renowned Nigerian comedian and TV host Teju Babyface has sparked a heated online debate after advising married men against confessing to their wives if they have been unfaithful on a single occasion.
In a podcast episode released last Friday evening, Teju Babyface contended that one act of infidelity does not necessarily brand a man as a chronic “cheater” or define his entire character.
He cautioned men against revealing their indiscretions simply to ease their own conscience, warning that such admissions could cause irreversible damage to their marriages.
“If you betray your spouse, especially if you’re a man cheating on your wife, do not disclose it. Never admit it,” he urged.
“This is among the most harmful and destructive choices you can make in your life,” Teju Babyface stressed.
He went on to argue that confessing to a partner after cheating is often less about honesty and more about self-serving manipulation. He criticized those who justify confession by referencing religious doctrines, asserting they misinterpret the Bible’s teachings.
“Many invoke scripture to support confession, saying ‘if we confess and repent, our sins are forgiven.’ But that forgiveness is between you and God, not between you and another person. Confession is intended for God, not man. Avoid doing it,” he explained.

“You’re not being sincere; you’re being tactical. Essentially, you’re shifting your guilt onto someone else instead of supporting your partner. You want another person to carry the burden of your mistake,” the comedian added.
Teju Babyface’s comments ignited a wide range of responses on social media, with many condemning him for seemingly promoting secrecy and condoning infidelity within marriages.
Here are some reactions from social media users:
@RealMissTee: “So, if a man cheats once, it’s just a ‘mistake’? If a woman did the same, she’d be judged forever. Talk about double standards.”
@OluTheTherapist: “Teju Babyface raises a valid point. Confessing without the right approach can destroy trust. Sometimes, silence is truly kindness.”
@NairaNii: “Basically, he’s saying ‘cheat a little but keep quiet.’ This generation is doomed.”
@AmakaTalks: “Where’s the accountability? If you cheat, own up. Don’t hide behind motivational quotes to dodge responsibility.”
@BabaNoStress: “Honestly, he’s not wrong. One mistake shouldn’t define a man. It’s not like he’s cheating repeatedly.” ♂️
