According to a statement issued on Friday by the Service’s spokesperson, Saminu Yusif, the initial incident occurred on Thursday, October 9, 2025, around 2:00 p.m. The Emergency Response Unit at Tudun Wada Fire Station was notified by the Hisbah Command about a drowning emergency.

“Upon arrival, our team discovered two boys, Habu Sani and Haruna Isah, both approximately 15 years old, who had entered the stream to swim. They were found unconscious and later declared deceased,” the statement explained.

The deceased were handed over to Inspector Usaini Iliya of the Tudun Wada Police Division for further investigation.

In a separate incident, the Fire Service revealed that on Friday, October 10, 2025, at about 8:15 a.m., their central control center received information from the P&G Kwalli Police Division about a body discovered inside a well at Jaba Masaka, Shago Tara.

“Our rescue team quickly recovered the body, which witnesses estimated had been submerged for nearly four days before being found. The remains were then handed over to the local Ward Head, Ado Idris,” the spokesperson added.

Offering sympathies to the families affected, Fire Service Director Alhaji Sani Anas called on parents and community leaders to raise awareness among children about the hazards of swimming in natural water bodies like streams and ponds. He emphasized the increased risks during the rainy season when water levels rise and currents become more dangerous.
