Gov Bala Mohammed Stands Firm: “I’m Not Going Anywhere” – A Powerful Pledge of Loyalty to PDP

‘I’m not going anywhere,’ Gov Bala Mohammed reaffirms commitment to PDP

On Saturday, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

During the inaugural meeting of the PDP convention‘s Publicity and Communications Sub-Committee in Abuja, where he serves as chairman, Governor Mohammed addressed the press, emphasizing his steadfast loyalty to the party’s mission and values.

In addition to this role, he also leads the PDP Governors’ Forum, reinforcing his influential position within the party’s leadership structure.

With firm resolve, he stated, “My dedication to the PDP is absolute, and I have no intention of leaving the party.”

Mohammed highlighted that his administration in Bauchi operates harmoniously, without internal divisions or rival factions.

While acknowledging the recent trend of some governors defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he acknowledged that swaying their choices is beyond his influence, as they are his peers in the political arena.

“I respect their autonomy as fellow governors, though quiet efforts are ongoing to address these political realignments,” he commented.

He observed that although these defections initially threatened party cohesion, ongoing dialogue has helped to ease tensions and foster understanding.

Mohammed also noted that some of his colleagues were compelled to switch parties due to strategic political calculations and pressures.

“Such decisions often stem from tactical considerations,” he remarked.

He refrained from blaming those who left, reiterating, “My loyalty to the PDP remains firm and unwavering.”

Furthermore, he urged defectors to refrain from criticizing the party publicly after their departure.

Regarding the legal disputes preceding the PDP’s national convention, Mohammed revealed that party officials are actively working to resolve these issues.

He suggested that many of the lawsuits appear designed to disrupt the party’s progress.

“At the grassroots level, some individuals have even sought court injunctions to delay the convention, which only creates uncertainty among lawmakers,” he explained.

“We are confronting these challenges directly,” he affirmed.

Addressing rumors about Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah’s possible exit from the PDP, Mohammed clarified that no official notice has been received from Mbah on this matter.

“In private discussions, he has reassured me of his continued commitment,” Mohammed shared.

“As fellow public servants, I respect his choices and remain supportive of him,” he concluded.
