Africa’s leading and rising table tennis talents are gearing up to display their exceptional skills at the 2025 ITTF-Africa Championships, hosted in the dynamic city of Tunis.
Veteran competitors and promising newcomers from across the continent have converged in Tunis, driven by a collective goal: to exhibit their technical mastery, mental toughness, and strategic acumen at this prestigious African tournament.
For numerous athletes, this event marks their debut on such a prominent stage, igniting enthusiasm as they step into the spotlight alongside Africa’s elite table tennis players.
Thomie Mossemba of Congo Brazzaville shared her anticipation about competing at this high level. “Participating here gives me the chance to learn from some of Africa’s top players, many of whom are recognized globally. It’s a great honor to represent my nation, and I’m eager to gain experience while aiming to win matches,” she said.
Angola‘s Kailane De Sousa, attending her third championship, views this competition as a crucial opportunity to showcase her country’s talent. “This tournament brings together Africa’s finest athletes, many with international acclaim. My ambition is to earn medals and secure a place on the team bound for London in 2026,” she explained.
Cameroon‘s Enjema Moussa, visibly excited, reflected on her first international outing following her team’s gold medal success at the regional championships in Kinshasa. “Meeting stars like Hana Goda, Omar Assar, and Dina Meshref is truly motivating, although I’m disappointed that Quadri Aruna isn’t competing. I aim to gain valuable experience and strive for victories,” she remarked.
Reflecting on his path, Ghana‘s Ernest Quavcod emphasized the commitment needed to reach this level. “Securing a spot on the national team after competing at the last African Games was a tough journey. I’m proud to be here and determined to justify the confidence placed in me,” he stated.
Uganda‘s Joshua Magaya echoed similar sentiments of gratitude. “This is a rare and valuable chance. I plan to give my best performance and earn my spot on the national team,” he affirmed.
For Nigeria‘s teenage sensation Favour Ojo, participating in this championship is a milestone. “Being selected for this team is a tremendous honor. Our aim is to qualify for the 2026 World Championships in London. In the short term, I want to win matches and help our team secure a podium finish here in Tunis,” she shared.
