Four individuals suspected of cult involvement were apprehended by officers of the Lagos State Police Command during a targeted operation at a known criminal hideout in the Tedi neighborhood of Ojo, Lagos.

According to an official release from the police, the detainees-Mathew Edafewotu (27), Alfred Collins (20), Alfred Emmanuel (22), and Obioha Kosi (22)-were taken into custody on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m. The arrest occurred at No. 6, Oasis Street, Tedi, following intelligence that indicated a clandestine gathering of a suspected cult faction.

The location had recently been the scene of a violent confrontation between rival cult groups, which led to increased police vigilance in the area. Acting on the information received, officers from the Onireke Division conducted a raid, successfully detaining four suspects while others managed to flee. The arrested individuals, who reportedly lack permanent residences, remain in police custody as investigations proceed.

In a related incident, law enforcement agents from the Iju Division have initiated a search for a motorcyclist who allegedly shot a union official during a dispute on Agbado Road, near Toyin Street, Iju-Ishaga, on the same day.

The victim, Bala Yusuf, a ticket officer for the motorcyclists’ union, sustained a gunshot wound to the jaw amid an argument over fare payment. He was initially treated at Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital before being transferred to LASUTH, Ikeja, for specialized care.

Adejumo Ganiyu, Chairman of the Motorcyclists Union in Iju-Ishaga, who reported the shooting, praised the police for their prompt action and expressed optimism that the perpetrator would soon be apprehended.

The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its dedication to eradicating cult-related violence and other criminal activities throughout the state, urging community members to come forward with any information that could aid ongoing investigations.
