Dear Sir,
The Ikeja industrial zone, once bustling with thriving businesses such as Dunlop, a prominent tire manufacturer, alongside numerous textile companies and Bedford Motor in Apapa, Lagos State, was a cornerstone of economic vitality. Regrettably, many of these industrial facilities have been converted into religious centers. Reviving these industries could ignite significant employment opportunities and drive national progress.
Our nation’s socio-economic difficulties have only intensified over the years. I firmly believe that reactivating these factories would create jobs for countless young Nigerians, thereby boosting economic momentum. The establishment of well-equipped vocational training institutes would equip eager youths with essential skills, helping to alleviate poverty, reduce crime rates, and curb unemployment.
It is crucial for our leadership to adopt a more forward-thinking approach that prioritizes the welfare of unemployed youth over personal interests. The lack of viable opportunities has pushed many into harmful and risky behaviors. Nigeria is home to brilliant researchers and innovators within its academic and scientific communities, yet many are forced to relocate abroad, where their talents benefit foreign economies.
We are indeed fortunate to have a president who listens and envisions a brighter future. I sincerely appeal for your urgent attention to this issue. With the recent removal of fuel subsidies and increased monthly allocations to state governors aimed at improving infrastructure and public services, it is vital that these resources are managed transparently and effectively for the people’s benefit.
Please ensure that these funds are judiciously utilized so that citizens can genuinely experience the positive impact of the Renewed Hope agenda, which reflects your leadership’s aspirations. When marginalized communities begin to see real improvements in governance, they will naturally adopt more constructive attitudes and behaviors. Prompt and decisive action is essential.
While policies themselves may not be flawed, their success often hinges on effective execution and sound leadership decisions. Poor personnel choices frequently undermine policy objectives. However, implementing stringent monitoring and evaluation frameworks can enhance accountability and accelerate development.
Consider the nation as a grand bazaar where the perceived value of goods influences their demand. I urge you to place a premium on our country-one that elevates its stature and attracts both tourists and investors. May your leadership continue to foster meaningful and positive change.
Thank you, Sir. May God bless you and bless Nigeria.
Effiong Edeson, Mafoluku-Oshodi, Lagos State
