Boston’s mayor, Michelle Wu, signaled the city’s readiness to confront President Donald Trump following his assertion that he could direct FIFA to shift World Cup matches away from Gillette Stadium, located 22 miles southwest of Boston.

During an appearance on the local podcast “Java with Jimmy” on Wednesday, Wu addressed the White House’s earlier critique from Tuesday, which branded her as a “radical left” figure. Trump had warned that he would contact FIFA president Gianni Infantino if Boston failed to “get its act together.”
