Sue initially attributed her growing abdominal bloating to normal menopausal changes, but it was her husband who insisted she seek medical advice. In her late 40s, she finally agreed to see her general practitioner. “A vigilant locum doctor quickly sensed something was wrong and ordered blood tests… that choice ultimately saved my life,” she recalls.

The results were shattering: she was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer, which had already metastasized. Sue was immediately faced with an aggressive treatment plan, including chemotherapy and extensive surgery to remove her uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and omentum-a procedure that abruptly induced menopause.
