Ivan Juric shares insights on Ademola Lookman‘s influence following his first start since a controversial transfer episode
After a summer marked by transfer uncertainties, Ademola Lookman returned to Atalanta’s starting eleven, prompting head coach Ivan Juric to comment on the Nigerian winger’s contribution during the recent Serie A fixture.
Lookman, who had sought a move to Inter Milan, featured prominently as Atalanta once again ended their match in a goalless stalemate, this time against Lazio.
Juric praises Lookman’s effort but laments squandered scoring chances
Post-match, Juric highlighted Lookman’s intelligent off-the-ball runs and active involvement, while expressing frustration over the team’s failure to finish their opportunities.
“Ademola demonstrated smart positioning and created multiple promising openings. We also saw glimpses of Ederson‘s capabilities today, which gives us hope moving forward,” Juric stated.

Despite Lookman’s return, Atalanta found it difficult to convert their dominance into goals. Juric remarked, “We created several chances and had opportunities to be more ruthless against a disciplined defensive unit.”
“The growing number of dropped points is worrying, even though the team’s overall displays have been commendable,” he added.
Atalanta maintains unbeaten run amid mounting frustrations
After seven rounds in Serie A, Atalanta stands as the only unbeaten team, yet their fifth draw of the campaign is beginning to test the patience of both players and fans alike.
“Our squad executes clear tactical plans and showcases quality football, but the crucial element-the goals-remains elusive,” Juric stressed, highlighting the ongoing challenge his side faces.

The stalemate came on a weekend when competitors Roma, Napoli, and Juventus all faltered, representing a missed opportunity for Atalanta to narrow the points gap in the league table.
With a crucial Champions League fixture against Slavia Praha on the horizon, Juric remains optimistic that Lookman’s full return to form will spark the offensive dynamism Atalanta has been craving.
