In a significant breakthrough, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended two notorious members of a “one chance” robbery syndicate allegedly responsible for the tragic de@th of a young lady, Miss Grace Godwin, aged 23.
The heart-wrenching incident dates back to July 12, 2025, when police operatives received a distress report about the unconscious body of a young woman discovered by the roadside along Iya Abubakar Street, Life Camp, Abuja. Upon arrival, the victim—later identified as Miss Grace Godwin, a fuel-pump attendant—was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was sadly confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
According to preliminary police investigations, Grace had closed from work on July 11, 2025, and unknowingly boarded a vehicle operated by a “one chance” syndicate—a criminal group notorious for robbing unsuspecting passengers.
In a statement released today, October 28, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, the Scorpion Squad launched a discreet but thorough investigation into the case.
Using digital reconstructive intelligence, operatives successfully traced and arrested two suspects identified as Kabiru Abdullahi (25) and Solomon Tanko (35).
Further investigations unveiled the harrowing details of Grace’s final moments. The young woman reportedly recognized some of the robbers as residents of the Dape community, where she also lived. Realizing she might expose them, the suspects panicked. A struggle ensued, during which Kabiru Abdullahi allegedly strangled Grace with a plastic nylon bag after she bit his finger in self-defense.
Recovered items from the suspects include a gold-colored Toyota Camry (popularly known as “Pencil Light”) used for the operation, along with plastic nylon bags employed in committing the crime.
The FCT Police Command has reassured residents of its commitment to ridding the city of criminal elements and ensuring justice for victims like Grace. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have pledged to prosecute the suspects to the fullest extent of the law.
