Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Division, under Operation FANSAN YANMA, have rescued 10 victims abducted from their farmlands in Ungwan Nungu, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims were kidnapped on November 29 while working on their farms, a development that triggered a search-and-rescue mission by the military.
A post on the X account of the Nigerian Army on Friday, noted that the operation intensified over several days as troops tracked the movement of the abductors through the forested areas of Sanga.
It added that at about 6:40 a.m. on Friday, the troops finally made contact with the kidnappers, who were attempting to collect ransom money from relatives of the victims.
“The encounter led to a gun battle.
“The troops engaged the kidnappers with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee,” Army disclosed.

It further said that during the operation, the soldiers recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition, and ₦1.6 million believed to be part of the ransom the criminals were trying to obtain from the families.
“The victims, comprising one adult male, three male children, three elderly women and three female children, have since been debriefed and reunited with their families, bringing relief and closure to the traumatised community”, the post added.
