According to Vogue, the 2026 Met Gala co-chairs will oversee the gala tied to the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, titled Costume Art. The exhibition will be curated by Andrew Bolton and will explore the relationship between clothing and the human body, examining how fashion functions as a physical and artistic extension of the wearer.
The Met Gala, held annually on the first Monday in May, serves as the Costume Institute’s chief source of funding, supporting exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, and long-term operations. The 2026 event will take place on May 4.

For Beyoncé, the role marks her return to the Met Gala after a 10-year absence. The singer last attended in 2016 during the “Manus x Machina” exhibition, where she wore Givenchy Haute Couture. Since making her debut at the gala in 2008, Beyoncé has attended seven times, often delivering some of the event’s most talked-about looks.
Her appointment as one of the 2026 Met Gala co-chairs is significant, as it elevates her presence from guest to one of the event’s leading figures.

Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams are both longtime Met Gala attendees and were present at the 2025 event, themed “Superfine.” Kidman appeared in sculptural, vintage-inspired Balenciaga, while Williams wore a custom Lacoste ensemble that referenced her tennis career through a skirt, polo, and cape.
Their continued involvement reflects their standing as Met Gala regulars. As 2026 Met Gala co-chairs, both women bring years of experience with the event and its evolving fashion narratives.
Anna Wintour’s Continued Influence on the Met Gala
Anna Wintour’s inclusion among the 2026 Met Gala co-chairs maintains her central role in shaping the event. Though she recently stepped down as Vogue’s editor-in-chief after 37 years, Wintour continues to guide the Met Gala’s creative and institutional direction.
Under her leadership, the Met Gala has grown into a global cultural spectacle, blending fashion, celebrity, and museum fundraising into a single televised moment each year.

The Costume Art exhibition will explore the human body as fashion’s foundation, organizing the show into thematic categories such as the naked body, the pregnant body, and the aging body. The exhibition will feature historical and contemporary pieces drawn from the Met’s permanent collection.
It will also mark the first exhibition held in the newly opened Condé M. Nast Galleries, a nearly 12,000-square-foot space adjacent to the museum’s Great Hall. The show will run from May 10, 2026, through January 10, 2027.
Host Committee and Additional Participants
Vogue also announced that fashion designer Anthony Vaccarello and actor Zoë Kravitz will co-chair the 2026 Met Gala Host Committee. Confirmed members include Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, LISA, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult. Additional host committee members are expected to be named later.
