PDP leaders, ex-governors, hold secret meeting with Obasanjo

Several top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to sources, the meeting, which took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, brought together the PDP National Chairman, Taminu Turaki, former governors, and other influential party figures.

The meeting is generating political interest among political watchers, especially considering the state of the PDP, which has been marred by division and crisis since the 2023 general election.

The personalities involved in the meeting are also making it to generate interest among Nigerians, especially as political gladiators have begun lobbying and strategizing ahead of the 2027 poll.

Although details of the discussion were not made public, sources say the meeting is likely to be associated with recent developments within the PDP.

The party has been facing internal pressure, leadership concerns, and strategic realignments ahead of future political contests.

Turaki arrived at the Obasanjo Presidential Library on Saturday, December 13, 2025, accompanied by a high-powered delegation. Among those present were former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu and former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang.
