Nigerian Breweries Plc has officially incorporated Distell Nigeria into its corporate framework, marking a significant milestone in broadening its business horizons.
This integration follows the successful acquisition of Distell Nigeria finalized in March 2025.
At a recent press conference held in Lagos, Uzodinma Odenigbo, Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries, shared detailed updates on this pivotal corporate transition.
In addition, Nigerian Breweries has unveiled a cutting-edge production facility at its Ibadan Brewery, which will now manufacture Distell’s portfolio of wines and spirits locally, including popular labels like Chamdor and 4th Street.
“We are proud to announce the smooth integration of Distell Nigeria into our operations. Our newly established, advanced manufacturing plant in Ibadan is fully operational, producing a wide selection of Distell’s wines and spirits,” Odenigbo stated.
This strategic move aligns with Nigerian Breweries’ goal to diversify its beverage lineup, extending beyond beer to encompass wines, spirits, and ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages.
Odenigbo further disclosed that the acquisition process commenced in June 2024, when Nigerian Breweries secured an 80% controlling interest in Distell Wines and Spirits Nigeria, following regulatory clearance from the South African Reserve Bank.
The transaction reached completion in March 2025 with the acquisition of the remaining 20% minority shares from Ekulo International and Next International Nigeria Limited, granting Nigerian Breweries full ownership of Distell Nigeria.
