Super Eagles confirm high-profile USA friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finalised plans for the Super Eagles to face two strong South American opponents, Venezuela and world number 13, Colombia, in an important set of international friendly matches scheduled for the November 2025 FIFA window in the United States of America.
The fixtures are intended to provide the three-time African champions with preparatory tests as they build towards the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The two-match tour, brokered by the NFF’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport, will see the Super Eagles engage in back-to-back challenges against CONMEBOL opposition.
The clash against Venezuela will take place at the Shell Stadium in Houston, a venue where the Super Eagles last played in 2013, drawing 2-2 with Mexico.
The tour then moves north to New York, where the Eagles will confront Colombia at Citi Field Stadium in Flushing Meadows, home of the New York Mets baseball team.
The 2025 friendlies mark the Eagles’ return to the United States after their last visit in the summer of 2022.
That trip was noteworthy as it featured the first matches under Peseiro, a period that set the tone for the Portuguese tactician’s tenure.
During that 2022 sojourn, the Super Eagles faced tough losses; they lost narrowly, 2-1, to Mexico at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, with the Nigerian goal scored by Cyriel Dessers.
They then succumbed to a loss by the odd goal against Ecuador’s La Tricolour in New Jersey.
Playing nations from the CONMEBOL region is highly valued by the NFF as it offers the Nigerian team a test of tactical discipline, speed, and technical play that mimics the demands of major tournaments.
