In the 87th minute of Besiktas’ 3-1 victory over Kocaelispor on Monday, Wilfred Ndidi was substituted due to visible discomfort on the pitch…
Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, a key figure for the Super Eagles, experienced a knock during Besiktas’ Turkish Super Lig clash against Kocaelispor, raising concerns about a potential injury, according to Soccernet.ng.
Ndidi’s recent seasons have been marred by an increasing frequency of injuries, impacting his availability on several occasions.
Earlier this month, he endured a hamstring strain that sidelined him for a fortnight, causing him to miss two crucial matches for Besiktas.

After recovering, Ndidi made his return in last week’s fixture against Kayserispor and also featured in the recent match at Tupras Stadium versus Kocaelispor.
Despite delivering a commendable performance, Ndidi was forced off the field in the 78th minute due to evident physical strain.
This substitution sparked worries about a possible extended absence, which would be a significant setback for Besiktas and could complicate coach Eric Chelle‘s squad planning ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers scheduled for next week.
Assessing Wilfred Ndidi’s Fitness Status
Although Ndidi sustained a knock during the game against Kocaelispor, Turkish sources have clarified that the injury is not severe.
His early exit was a precautionary step taken by Besiktas’ medical team to avoid aggravating any potential issue.

Consequently, Ndidi remains fit for selection both at Besiktas and for the Super Eagles as they prepare for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches in October.
On the other hand, coach Eric Chelle will be without several key players, including Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Ola Aina, for the forthcoming qualifiers.
