Xavi, the former Barcelona head coach, is reportedly being considered for a high-profile managerial role in Saudi Arabia, accompanied by an attractive contract offer.
Since his dismissal from Barcelona in May 2024 after an underwhelming season, the Spanish icon has remained without a coaching position.
During his tenure, Xavi led the Catalan club to triumphs in La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup in 2023, before German tactician Hansi Flick took over the reins.
Xavi in Line for New Coaching Role
Football insider Fabrizio Romano, as cited by the Sun, reveals that Al-Ittihad, a club competing in the Saudi Pro League, has reached out to Xavi with an offer to become their new head coach.
The Jeddah-based team recently parted ways with Laurent Blanc just four matches into the current campaign, despite securing victories in three of those games and holding third place in the standings.
Besides Xavi, other notable names such as Luciano Spalletti and Sergio Conceicao are also reportedly being considered for the managerial vacancy at Al-Ittihad.
Romano also indicates that Xavi’s long-term goal is to manage in the English Premier League. The former midfielder is reportedly eager to accept a managerial role at Manchester United, even though the club is currently not competing in European tournaments.
Furthermore, the journalist notes that Xavi is diligently analyzing the Premier League landscape as he prepares for a potential future appointment.
At present, Manchester United’s manager Ruben Amorim faces mounting scrutiny after a shaky start to the season.
The Red Devils’ recent 3-1 loss to Brentford has left them languishing in 14th place on the Premier League table, just a few points above the relegation zone.
