If he’s 100% healthy, there’s no limit to how fast he can run – Coach Glen Mills revels in Oblique Seville’s immense potential

Despite Oblique Seville’s personal best of 9.76s to win the men’s 100m world title in Tokyo, coach Glen Mills says his talent still has much more in his legs and he’s just scratching the surface of his potential.

Legendary coach Glen Mills is extremely confident about his world champion Oblique Seville‘s potential, and has revealed there’s no limit to how fast he can run if he’s 100% healthy.

The 23-year-old Jamaican speedster finally got his big breakthrough at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships, where he blazed to a blistering personal best of 9.76s to win the men’s 100m final, thus defeating fierce national rival Kishane Thompson and defending champion Noah Lyles.

Seville’s victory was a perfect icing to his past near podium finishes at the world championships, having finished fourth at Eugene 2022 and Budapest 2023.

It was also a perfect compensation for the Paris Olympic final, where he sadly pulled up with an injury and settled for eighth position, despite going into the race as one of the favourites for the gold medal.

Following several injury setbacks that have hampered his progress in the past few years, coach Glen Mills believes that when he’s 100% healthy, Seville will be unstoppable, as he has more to give.

Coach Glen Mills famously trained Usain Bolt throughout his career

“Once we get into a perfect situation where he is 100% healthy, 9.76 is just a shadow, a tip in the bucket. He can run much faster than that if he’s 100%,” Glen Mills said in an interview with Television Jamaica.

“So, I’m really happy for him, and this will go a long way in continuing to build his development because he’s still young and I expect a lot more from him.”

Coach Glen Mills is famous for training the legendary Usain Bolt throughout his career and sprint icon Yohan Blake during his active years.

He currently has Nigerian hurdling queen Tobi Amusan under his wings as well, and the result of their coaching relationship in less than a year resulted in a silver medal in the women’s 100mH in Tokyo.

With Seville just entering his prime, there’s definitely no limit to what he can achieve and be among the greats in men’s sprint history.
