Fans blast Osimhen after heated clash with Emirhan Topçu
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has come under heavy criticism from fans following his on-field altercation with Emirhan Topçu during the fiery Süper Lig clash between Galatasaray and Beşiktaş on Sunday night.
The tense encounter, which ended 1–1 at RAMS Park, saw tempers flare in the first half when Osimhen reacted angrily after contesting an aerial duel with Topçu.
The Nigerian forward appeared to grab the Turkish defender by the throat before players stepped in to defuse the situation. Both men were shown yellow cards.
Fan Reacts
The incident has sparked widespread debate online, with many fans expressing disappointment over Osimhen’s conduct.
One fan wrote on social media, “This was Osimhen yesterday and these are the issues. Imagine if he did this to an English player in England. Mind you, he did this to a Turkish guy.
“And you wonder why other top clubs wouldn’t touch him with a ten-foot pole. The same temper and lack of self-control that pitched him against his coach also led to his irresponsible use of social media.
“He needs to be sat down and admonished. Great player but terrible attitude. If you hate this truth, donate your tears in the comments section and in quotes.”
Divided opinions among fans
While some defended the Super Eagles star, claiming his fiery temperament is part of his competitive nature, others believe such incidents could harm his reputation and chances of securing a move to a top European club.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) is expected to review the footage, with potential disciplinary action not ruled out.
