St. Pauli has provided the latest information regarding Felix Agu‘s injury sustained last Saturday, just before the Super Eagles‘ World Cup qualifying matches.
The defender may face a recovery period after suffering an ankle injury during Werder Bremen‘s narrow 1-0 home win against FC St. Pauli.
The 26-year-old was forced off the pitch before halftime following a collision where Martijn Kaars awkwardly landed on his ankle during a challenge.
Agu, who is expected to feature for his national side, was seen exiting the stadium on crutches with his ankle heavily wrapped in bandages.
Latest on Agu’s Condition
Werder Bremen has announced that a conclusive diagnosis is still pending, although the injury did not necessitate emergency medical transport.
“Felix Agu remains under evaluation following an incident where he bravely blocked a shot from Martijn Kaars late in the first half,” the club reported on their official platform.
“During the challenge, the St. Pauli player landed awkwardly on Agu’s left ankle, which led to his substitution. An MRI scan is planned for Monday to assess the injury further.”
Since his recovery, Agu has been a key figure on Bremen’s right side, making the possibility of his absence a considerable setback for the team.
The club is currently awaiting detailed medical evaluations to understand the severity of the injury and the expected recovery timeline.
