D’Tigress Gear Up for Thrilling FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers Against Colombia, Philippines, Germany, Korea, and France!

Nigeria’s D’Tigress to compete against Colombia, Philippines, Germany, Korea, and France in the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The senior Nigerian women’s basketball squad, popularly known as D’Tigress, has been drawn into their group for the upcoming 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualification stage.

The draw ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, and was conducted by Endy Miyem, the former captain of the French national team.

Representatives from both D’Tigress and the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) were present at the event held at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.

This development follows D’Tigress’ impressive achievement of securing their fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket championship.

All participating teams in the draw are vying for one of the 16 coveted spots at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, scheduled to be hosted in Berlin.

The qualification tournaments are set to be hosted across four cities: Wuhan in China, Lyon-Villeurbanne in France, San Juan in Puerto Rico, and Istanbul in Turkey, running from March 11 to 17, 2026.

Group Allocations for the Qualifiers

Wuhan, China: Mali, South Sudan, Brazil, Belgium, Czechia, and China.

Lyon-Villeurbanne, France: Colombia, Philippines, Germany, Korea, France, and Nigeria.

San Juan, Puerto Rico: New Zealand, Puerto Rico, USA, Senegal, Italy, and Spain.

Istanbul, Turkey: Hungary, Turkey, Argentina, Australia, Canada, and Japan.
