President Bola Tinubu has formally accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji from his role as Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology following accusations of forging academic credentials.

Nnaji was appointed to this ministerial position by President Tinubu in August 2023, marking a significant step in his political career.

In a statement issued by the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, it was disclosed that Nnaji submitted his resignation on Tuesday, expressing appreciation to the President for the chance to serve the country.

The statement further noted, “Nnaji claimed he has been the target of political smear campaigns by his opponents.”

President Tinubu, acknowledging Nnaji’s efforts during his time in office, wished him success in his future endeavors, as confirmed by Onanuga.

According to reports from LEADERSHIP, the controversy revolves around allegations that Nnaji presented a counterfeit certificate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) during his ministerial screening process in August 2023.
