Super Eagles legend Nwankwo Kanu is set to return to the pitch with Ajax Legends.
Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu took to social media to announce his return to the pitch.
Kanu who retired from the sport over a decade ago is now set to lace up his boot for a charitable cause.
Kanu returns to action
The former striker, celebrated for his trophy-laden tenure with Ajax in the 1990s, revealed he will be part of the Ajax Legends team.
The return of Kanu with Ajax legends will come when they face Dinamo Tbilisi in a special exhibition match on October 19, 2025, at Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The return of Kanu comes ahead of Dinamo Tbilisi’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
Kanu announced his return to football in a post of his official social media platforms.
Along with the post was a message that said, “I am delighted to be part of the Ajax Legends team that will play a novelty match against Dinamo Tbilisi on the 19th of October 2025, in Tbilisi Georgia.
“The match is to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Dinamo Tbilisi, a club with a great history, a European title, a renowned football academy and culture which has produced great football stars across several generations, including Shota Arveladze, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and many more.
“I will have the opportunity to participate in this great celebration together with many Ajax Legends and get to know a new country, people, and culture.
“Join us to celebrate the anniversary of this great club! See you in Tbilisi on October 19 @afcajax #legend #thankgod.”
The 49-year-old football icon began his European career with the Dutch giants Ajax in 1993.
Kanu played a pivotal role in Ajax’s 1995 UEFA Champions League victory over AC Milan and featured in the 1996 final against Juventus.
