Brown Ideye, a former Nigerian international, asserts that the Super Eagles have yet to discover the perfect attacking companion for their standout striker, Victor Osimhen.
Nigeria secured a tight 2-1 win over Lesotho in their FIFA World Cup qualifying match, keeping their qualification hopes alive but precariously balanced.
Throughout the match, Osimhen was partnered with two different forwards. Tolu Arokodare started alongside the Napoli striker, while Akor Adams was introduced later and netted the decisive second goal for Nigeria.
Although Osimhen played a role in setting up the second goal, he struggled to establish a strong connection with his attacking teammates during the contest.
Ideye Highlights the Need for a Reliable Strike Partner for Osimhen
Offering his expert analysis, Ideye emphasized that despite Nigeria’s abundance of offensive talent, the team still lacks the necessary on-field synergy to complement Osimhen effectively.

“Victor Osimhen undoubtedly requires a dependable partner upfront,” Ideye remarked during a SuperSport broadcast.
“Observing Tolu’s performance in the first half and Akor’s brief but impactful appearance, it’s clear that the ideal balance for a striking duo with Osimhen remains elusive.”
Reflecting on his own fruitful collaboration with Emmanuel Emenike during Nigeria’s victorious 2013 AFCON campaign, Ideye underscored the critical role of harmony and understanding in the attacking third.
Currently positioned third in Group C, Nigeria faces a pivotal World Cup qualifier against Benin this Tuesday.
Securing a win is imperative, and the Super Eagles will also rely on South Africa, the group leaders, to falter against Rwanda to enhance their chances of advancing.
