Ex-Super Eagles Star Unveils Game-Changing Strategy to Secure Nigeria’s World Cup Playoff Victory!

Friday Ekpo Urges Super Eagles to Exhibit Peak Form in World Cup Playoff Battles

Former Nigerian international Friday Ekpo has emphasized the importance of the Super Eagles maintaining sharp focus and relentless energy as they prepare for the decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff encounters, warning against any sluggishness at the start of these crucial matches.

After securing their spot in the playoffs with a commanding 4-0 victory over Benin Republic on the final day of qualifiers, the Super Eagles finished second in Group C, earning their place among the top runners-up advancing to the next stage.

The playoff round will see the leading second-placed teams from the African qualifiers face off in a knockout format, featuring semifinals followed by a final. The team that emerges victorious will move on to the FIFA Inter-Confederation Playoff, competing for Africa’s potential tenth berth at the World Cup.

These critical matches are scheduled to be held in Morocco from November 10 through 18.

Insights from Ekpo

Speaking to Complete Sports, Ekpo praised the team’s strong finish but expressed regret that Nigeria must still battle through the playoffs to secure World Cup qualification.

“I commend the Super Eagles for reaching the World Cup playoffs. The players recognized the need not just to win, but to do so convincingly,” Ekpo stated.

He added, “Although the win against Benin was impressive, it’s disappointing that Nigeria faces the added pressure of playoffs to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. This is something we must analyze carefully to avoid repeating in future campaigns.”

Ekpo highlighted the critical need for Nigeria to start these playoff games with intensity and maintain that momentum to ensure their passage to the global stage.

“In the playoffs, the Super Eagles must deliver their highest level of performance right from kickoff and steer clear of any slow beginnings. I’m hopeful for their success,” he concluded.

Determined to make a comeback after missing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Super Eagles are focused on reclaiming their place among football’s elite.
