Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric has provided an optimistic update regarding Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, who is gradually regaining his full match fitness. This encouraging development comes just ahead of Atalanta’s crucial Serie A showdown against Lazio.
Despite being a key figure for the Nigerian national team, Lookman has found it challenging to secure regular minutes at Atalanta this season.
Following a transfer request submitted during the summer window, the winger has now been reintegrated into the squad, signaling a potential resurgence in his club career.
So far this campaign, Lookman has featured for only 137 minutes out of a possible 720 across all competitions for Atalanta.
Juric on Lookman’s Progress and Fitness
Since returning to Italy last week, Juric has been closely monitoring Lookman’s physical condition during training sessions.

In anticipation of the Lazio clash, the Croatian coach expressed confidence not only in Lookman’s recovery but also in the progress of teammate Charles De Ketelaere.
“We must enhance our goal-scoring capabilities, and I’m noticing promising developments in that area. Sulemana is also showing good improvement,” Juric remarked, as reported by Sportal Italia.

Juric added, “It’s crucial to monitor how Lookman and De Ketelaere adapt to the increased training intensity. I remain hopeful about their full recovery and the positive influence they will have on the squad.”
Atalanta stands among the few unbeaten teams in Serie A this season, sharing this distinction with Juventus, who currently occupy sixth place in the league.
The club is counting on Lookman’s resurgence to bolster their ambitions for a top-tier finish as they aim to contend for the Serie A title in the upcoming weeks.
